WESTWORLD - Scoring competition

DESCRIPTION:

I scored this scene for the Westworld Scoring Competition, hosted by Spitfire Audio and HBO. Contestants were tasked with writing an original score to the car chase scene that aired in Season 3, Episode 5. Below is the version of the scene with my original score. This was written and produced for competition only; it was not commissioned by HBO or Spitfire.

APPROACH:

This is a dramatic and fast-paced action scene that, to me, is clearly influenced by the likes of The Dark Knight, with a bit of Tron: Legacy and perhaps a little of the more recent Terminator sequels. I wanted to the tone and tempo to match the sleek design and pacing, with the harmonies underpinning the emotional themes of the show. The more synthesized aspects reflect the antagonists, while the organic elements support our heroes, and various percussion highlights the velocity of the scene.
